SEMRush: SERP Features Support

SERP Features in Ranking Reports

Recently, SEMRush added a column that displays tiny icons to the left of the current ranking position in client keyword lists. There has been a bit of confusion about what those icons mean. Specifically, questions about features like ads, that appear even when no AdWords campaign is being run.

The assumption is that the features represent the website being tracked, which is not the case. The features appear any time the query (keyword search) triggers the attribute. That means, if ANY ad appears in the SERP for a given keyword search, the related icon with be displayed in the features column.

In other words, a competitor could be running ads, triggering the appearance of the icon. In that case, it would be important to look at those campaigns and mitigate any competitive disadvantage that results.

The following is SEMRush’s documentation on the subject.
